Albert Compte studied Physics in the Autonomous University of Barcelona both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He carried out postdoctoral research in the laboratory of Prof. Xiao-Jing Wang at Brandeis University in the framework of an Alfred P. Sloan fellowship for Theoretical Neurobiology. In 2002 he took up an independent research position (Ramón y Cajal program) in the Instituto de Neurociencias de Alicante. Since 2006 he is principal investigator of the Theoretical Neurobiology Group of the IDIBAPS
